The main way of treatment is the use of antibiotics during the first week of infection. Doxycycline is the most recommended medicine which has a high efficiency and low toxic level. 

To prevent this from happening, avoid exposure to locations where ticks and lice might live. Also the use of bug repellant and proper clothing can be useful in protecting against ticks and lice.
